Introduction |
In view of the impact East Asian business systems have had on world business and trading patterns recently, it is essential to understand how they evolved as compared with the Western trajectory. This course is aimed at providing the historical background up to the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, looking firstly at Japan, then the rise of the "Tiger Economies", and then China’s vibrant economic reforms. The course will assess how business has evolved in East Asia against the economic, political and socio-cultural background of the region through the longer 20th century.
