The course will introduce students to modern integrative approaches to mental illness, wellbeing and psychotherapy, which focus on de-stigmatising psychosis and offering a philosophical framework for both psychotherapeutic intervention and understanding of mental illness as life experience, rather than as ‘pathology’. The course will familiarise students with the ideas of such great psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic philosophers as Irvin Yalom, Paul Veraeghe, Lou Marinoff, the Lacanian psychoanalists and members of the modern global profession of philosophical practitioners who research and practice integrative psychotherapy.
