Professor Rogier Busser (PhD Economic Development) works since 2016 as Dean/programme director International Business and Management Studies for The Hague University of Applied Sciences and is research fellow at the Asian Research Centre of Leiden University (The Netherlands). He studied at Leiden University, Erasmus University Rotterdam and at Kyoto University. After working for a Japanese financial institution, Professor Busser joined the Asian Studies Centre at Leiden University (1995-2016). Dr. Busser is a visiting professor to the Faculty of Economics of Thammasat University (Bangkok) and to the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris. His research interests are in East Asian social and economic development, industrial organization, the automotive industry and more broadly in the political economy of East Asia. He leads an international research programme on models of industrial organization in East Asia and is a regular speaker in the Dutch media. Major course taught: Japanese social and economic development (both at BA and graduate level), Social Development in Asia (BA course), Development Economics (MA course), Political Economy of East Asia (BA level and graduate level), International Economic Relations in East Asia (MA course), Economic integration between ASEAN, China, Japan and Korea (MA level).
