Introduction |
Soviet Economic History is a short course available for Economists, historians or social scientists. It describes the problem of under-development faced by Russia prior to the Revolution, and the extra-ordinary economic achievements of the USSR in modernizing and transforming the economy, which enabled it to emerge as a victorious superpower after WW2. But in the post war years the Soviet Economy was unable to modernize and adjust to the growing demands of a wealthy society. The reasons for the collapse in 1991 will be assessed.
