Introduction |
This is an introductory course in financial accounting covering both concepts and procedures of financial accounting. Students will learn financial accounting fundamentals and how to identify, measure and report on the financial effects of economic events on enterprises. Topics include accrual accounting concepts; preparation, understanding and analysis of financial statements; accounting for sales and cost of sales; inventory valuation; depreciation of operational assets; and accounting for investments, liabilities and present value concepts. Upon completion of this course students should be able to analyze, record, and classify business transactions, prepare financial statements in good form, and analyze those reports. Students should also be able to explain basic accounting concepts, terms, and principles. |
